Intriguing Twist at Miami Open: Grigor Dimitrov’s Respectful Gesture Towards Andy Murray Amidst Journalist’s Big-4 Question

Grigor Dimitrov has now reached the finals of an ATP 1000 Master’s for the third time and will be looking to extend his title count when he goes against 10-year-younger Jannik Sinner. The Bulgarian belongs to a generation of players who are mostly in the twilight of their careers or have exited the pro tennis arena. Although tennis recognizes the Big 3, Dimitrov believes in a fourth name too.

Talking about the generation of titans that Dimitrov belongs to, when a journalist forgets to mention Andy Murray, the former world Number three jokingly corrects her.

A clip of Dimitrov interacting with journalists in the post-match presser after his semi-final win has been uploaded by the Tennis Channel’s Instagram handle. In the clip, Dimitrov can be seen cheekily correcting a journalist when she forgets to include Murray’s name in the list of the Big 4. The journalist was trying to phrase her question about Dimitrov’s experience of playing against the big 4 but she only mentions 3 – Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic.

Quick to check her mistake even before she could complete her question, the Bulgarian quipped, “And Andy, and Andy, there you go, “ with a wink.

Upon the completion of the question, Dimitrov answers, “Very lucky. How often do you say I played in an era against the best players, and you have beaten them all? It’s great. I’m sorry, but I can live with that. You know, all that, the titles and all this, yeah, it’s great. The journey the ride.”

Although Dimitrov’s answer exhibits his respect for the big 4, he has been dubbed “The Giant Slayer” owing to his ability to churn out historic upsets by defeating tournament and crowd favorites.
