After Valero Texas Open, Who Qualified For What? – Qualifiers for all 2024 Signature Events, THE PLAYERS and majors

Published

on

What comes around goes around, but only if you’re good enough.

When Akshay Bhatia broke through as a non-member of the PGA TOUR at the Barracuda Championship last summer, it yielded exemptions into The Sentry, THE PLAYERS Championship and the PGA Championship this year. However, because of new provisions that apply to that additional event now co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour, the 300 FedExCup points reserved for the winner weren’t added to his total when he accepted membership. That alone also was the difference between finishing 102nd in the FedExCup and qualifying for the FedExCup Playoffs.

The bright side was that the victory exempted Bhatia in the winners category through 2025; that is, until now.

With his playoff victory at the Valero Texas Open on Sunday, the lefty’s membership exemption now extends through his age-24 season of 2026. Oh, and he’s now in this week’s Masters as the last of 89 commitments.

Bhatia also is exempt into all remaining Signature Events this season and he’ll return to Kapalua for The Sentry and TPC Sawgrass for THE PLAYERS in 2025.

NOTE: Golfers are omitted if they recently haven’t competed in majors for which they are eligible (e.g., The Open Championship=Justin Leonard).
