Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka were reportedly involved in a ‘heated’ argument over the former’s wife, Paulina Gretzky, ahead of the 2018 Ryder Cup in France

Golfing mates Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka reportedly had a major falling out over Johnson’s stunning partner, Paulina Gretzky.

Dustin Johnson, 39, who is in action in the final round of the US PGA Championship today (Sunday), is loved up with his wife, actress Paulina Gretzky, daughter of ice hockey icon Wayne Gretzky. The couple tied the knot in 2022 and are doting parents to two boys

But rewind to 2018, and it was rumoured that Gretzky was at the heart of a fiery clash between Johnson and Koepka before the Ryder Cup kicked off in France. Reports from Golf Digest and L’Equipe claimed the American duo had a “heated” row on the plane over to Paris, with whispers that Koepka was consoling Gretzky during a rocky period in her romance with Johnson. An unnamed insider spilled to L’Equipe that the vibes on the flight were “horrible” after the bust-up. The US team ended up getting trounced by a spirited European squad, 17.5-10.5.
Koepka, 34, shrugged off the supposed tiff, claiming he and Johnson were sleeping on the flight, not having a barney. At the Alfred Dunhill Championship, soon after the alleged incident, he addressed the gossip, saying: “This Dustin thing, I don’t get. There was no fight, no argument. He is one of my best friends.”

He added: “We talked on the phone on Monday and yesterday so tell me how we fought? I don’t know. People like to make a story and run with it and it is not the first time a story has come out that is not true.” Meanwhile, Johnson quashed split rumours with a social media post, although he did hint at some trouble in paradise. He shared: “Every relationship goes through its ups and downs, but most importantly, we love each other very much and are committed to being a family. Thank you for your love and support.”
