Shocking Reason Behind Travelers Championship Chaos as Scottie Scheffler Snags 12th PGA Tour Victory Amid Environmental Protest

Scottie Scheffler’s victory at the 2024 Travelers Championship – his sixth of the current PGA Tour season – has unfortunately been overshadowed by the protest on the 18th green at TPC River Highlands on Sunday.

Scheffler (-22), who defeated Tom Kim on the first hole of an eventual playoff, was forced to wait to hit his birdie putt on the final hole of regulation as climate activists stormed the green and sprayed a paint-like substance on the surface.

Police quickly detained the protestors before any damage was done to the green, however, the incident clearly left at least one member of the final group startled.

Fans have spent the past few hours speculating over the reason behind the protest – and now, the golf world finally appears to have an answer.

According to multiple sources, climate activism group Extinction Rebellion has claimed responsibility for the incident.

“With this action, Extinction Rebellion is NOT protesting any individual or organization. Rather, the protest highlights the worldwide danger of climate breakdown,” the group said in a statement released shortly after the incident.

Scottie Scheffler’s 12th career PGA Tour victory won’t be one he’ll ever forget.
