The players who are set to compete in the men’s golf competition at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 have been revealed.
The Olympic Golf Rankings (OGR) reached its cutoff point on 17 June 2024 for the men’s rankings, where the top 60 men’s players through the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) are eligible for Paris 2024*.
The top 15 players on the OWGR are eligible for the Olympic Games, up to a maximum of four golfers from a single country. After the top 15, the OGR consist of up to the top two eligible players per country, as long as that country does not already have at least two players in the top 15.
How to qualify for golf at Paris 2024
As National Olympic Committees (NOCs) have the exclusive authority for the representation of their respective countries at the Olympic Games, athletes’ participation at the Paris Games depends on their NOC selecting them to represent their delegation at Paris 2024.
Xander Schauffele, who won gold for the USA at Tokyo 2020 held in 2021, has qualified for Paris 2024.

World number one Scottie Scheffler of the USA leads the charge, followed by Ireland’s Rory McIlroy and defending Olympic champion Xander Schauffele in third. Wyndham Clark and Collin Morikawa round off a strong lineup for the US, who have all of their qualified golfers within the top seven and are the only nation eligible for the maximum number of players.
Sweden’s Ludvig Åberg qualifies with his highest ranking of fourth, and he is joined by fellow Scandinavian Viktor Hovland of Norway in sixth. The top 10 is rounded off by formers Masters champions Jon Rahm of Spain and Japan’s Matsuyuma Hideki, and Great Britain’s top-ranked golfer Tommy Fleetwood.
There are some notable absentees from the qualified athletes, such as Rio 2016 Olympic champion Justin Rose of Great Britain. Also missing out at Paris 2024 are two-time US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau and US golfing icon Tiger Woods.
