Scottie Scheffler’s Strong Finish Falls Short as Hideki Matsuyama Clinches FedEx St. Jude Championship

In a nail-biting finish at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler put up a valiant effort with a final-round 66, securing fourth place at 14-under 266. Despite his strong performance, Scheffler couldn’t overcome Hideki Matsuyama, who weathered a dramatic back-nine collapse to win with a 17-under 263.

Matsuyama, who led by five strokes at the start of the day, faced intense pressure as he bogeyed the 12th and 14th holes and double-bogeyed the 15th, allowing Viktor Hovland and Xander Schauffele to close the gap. However, Matsuyama’s nerves held firm as he delivered clutch birdies on the 17th and 18th holes, securing his 10th PGA Tour title despite losing his caddie to a pre-tournament robbery in London.

Scheffler, though consistent throughout, couldn’t catch Matsuyama or the surging Schauffele and Hovland, who finished two strokes back in a tie for second. As the PGA Tour playoffs move on to the BMW Championship, Scheffler will look to build on his strong form as he chases the FedEx Cup title.
