Does Scottie Scheffler Regret Taking Paternity Leave for Meredith & Bennett? ‘Major’ Truth Reveals World No.1’s Mindset

Scottie Scheffler had an incredible year, securing a major win, an Olympic gold medal, and multiple victories at Signature events. Yet, despite predictions of a clean sweep, the world’s No.1 golfer didn’t achieve everything he set out to, acknowledging that a few things didn’t go his way.

Between the Masters and the PGA Championship, Scheffler took a break to spend time with his wife, Meredith, and their newborn son, Bennet. This break, though essential for his family, left him feeling that his performance could have been better. Reflecting on the season, Scheffler noted, “There’s two majors where I took long breaks going into, one because of the birth of our child… and one because of the Olympics.”

The new father chose not to play in the Genesis Scottish Open before the Open Championship, opting instead to practice at Trump Turnberry. While this decision allowed for valuable family time, Scheffler admits that the uncertainty surrounding his son’s arrival made preparation challenging. Despite these hurdles, he has no regrets about prioritizing his family, even if his U.S. Open preparation wasn’t ideal.

Scheffler also expressed his frustration with the PGA Tour’s scheduling, particularly playing the Memorial Tournament just before the U.S. Open. He felt the tough test at Muirfield Village drained him before the major. However, with next year’s schedule changes, Scheffler is optimistic about better preparation moving forward.

As the Tour Championship kicks off, Scheffler is focused on the future, ready to pair up with Xander Schauffele and continue his quest for greatness. The world’s top golfer tees off at 2 PM EDT on Thursday.
