Emma Raducanu is wasting no time making headlines in 2025, adding yet another tournament to her competitive schedule. The British No. 2 has officially signed up for the Singapore Tennis Open, a WTA 250 event set to take place from January 27 to February 2 at the Kallang Tennis Hub.

This exciting announcement comes on the heels of a tough start to Raducanu’s season. The 22-year-old was forced to withdraw from her first event of the year, the ASB Classic in Auckland, citing a “back niggle.” However, she remains determined to make a strong return at the upcoming Australian Open and continue building momentum in Singapore.

The Singapore Tennis Open will feature a stellar lineup alongside Raducanu, including fellow Grand Slam champion Sofia Kenin, World No. 14 Anna Kalinskaya, Elise Mertens, and rising star Wang Xinyu. Co-tournament director Laura Ceccarelli expressed confidence in the event’s competitiveness, saying:

“The player field is looking good for the tournament, and I believe we are going to see some great matches in both singles and doubles.”

Though Raducanu has never competed in Singapore before, the country holds positive memories for her. She previously completed a training block there two years ago at the prestigious Tanglin Club, sharing her experience on social media:

“We worked, got stuck in (literally..), enjoyed the great culture, improved and had so much fun here. Thank you to everyone’s warm welcome, you made it even more special. I’ll be back!!”

This commitment to Singapore signals Raducanu’s determination to play more events this season after a challenging 2024 campaign where she participated in just 13 tour events and two Billie Jean King Cup ties. A key part of her new approach includes the addition of renowned fitness trainer Yutaka Nakamura, who previously worked with tennis icons Maria Sharapova and Naomi Osaka.

Speaking about her goals for the season, Raducanu emphasized her focus on consistency and fitness:

“I want to play more than I did this year. I appointed Yutaka because I really wanted to spend more time and energy on my fitness. I think now with my setup, I’m in a place where I can continue work on the road.”

With a stronger support team and a packed calendar, Raducanu seems fully committed to making 2025 her breakthrough year on tour. Tennis fans will eagerly watch as she competes in Singapore, hoping for a deep run in the tournament and a strong foundation for the rest of the season.
