Scottie Scheffler Triumphs Amid Chaos to Clinch Historic Sixth Win Before July

When Scottie Scheffler’s red-hot 2024 season couldn’t get wilder, the Travelers Championship’s final round had something to say.

Headed into the final hole, Scheffler was being chased down by Tom Kim who delivered an incredibly clutch second shot into the green. Before either of the two could putt, chaos ensued.

The 18th green was flooded with protestors and police escorting them off the golf course while Scheffler and Kim stood awaiting their putts. While the paint was removed, the two had ample time to analyze their upcoming putts.

Scheffler had a chance to win the tournament with his birdie putt but missed by mere inches. Tom Kim drained his putt in the center of the cup and forced the two into a playoff.

The rest is history from there. Scheffler went on to win the first playoff hole and collect his sixth win of the season.

The win is Scheffler’s sixth win in his last 10 events and was a $3.6 million payday for the world’s No. 1 ranked golfer.

Scottie Scheffler hits out of the bunker onto the seventh hole during the third round of the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club on Saturday, May 18, 2024.

Tom Kim finished in outright second place for a $2.16 million prize. Had he taken down Scheffler, it would have been his fourth PGA Tour win.

Up next for the PGA Tour is the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit, Michigan starting on June 27th. Rickie Fowler ended his draught at the tournament last year and is the defending champion.
