Meredith ‘Started Losing It’: Scottie Scheffler on Wife’s Uncontrollable Emotions After His Arrest Became Halloween’s Spotlight

If you live in and around Dallas, send your kids to the Schefflers this Halloween. Chances are they will get a bag full of treats. Given that they dress up as an LMPD inmate like Scottie Scheffler was for a few hours on May 17.

You might have seen that viral Scottie Scheffler caddie bib. The orange bib, modeled on a prison uniform, has Scheffler written on the back. Along with it, there is also an LMPD uniform for your kid and their friend come Halloween. And, guess who just lost it after watching that viral photo?

Not the world no.1 himself, but his wife. The couple were flying home when Meredith saw it on her phone and immediately showed it to her husband (Scheffler isn’t on X). “She just started losing it, laughing. She turns around, and [said] ‘Look at this!’” Scheffler recounted in Golf’s Subpar podcast.

It’s been six months since the infamous incident. The world no.1 was arrested on charges of a felony for assaulting a police officer on his way to Valhalla. The two-time major champion was released later that morning and all charges were dropped eventually.

It didn’t take long for the Internet to make memes, though. Even his peers like to joke about it from time to time. Scottie Scheffler, after his release, talked briefly about the moment, admitting he was ‘shaking’ out of nervousness.

But time makes all the difference. Subpar host Colt Knost asked what he would do if some kid actually knocked on his door wearing that orange uniform. “I will probably just give them the whole basket, be like, all right you have fun… Take it all, take it all, you guys win,” Scheffler said laughing.

Of course, the two-time major champion can laugh about it now. The arrest stemmed from miscommunication. But at that time, even his uber-cool caddie, Ted Scott, was shell-shocked and at a loss.
